Travelling The World On A Budget Isn’t Impossible- Here’s How You Do It

Exploring some of the most exotic places in the world doesn’t need to cost you a fortune. You don’t need to win the lottery if you want to stay in luxurious places either. In fact, with a bit of time and effort, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to not only have the best time, but also get the entire trip done for well under your budget.

Come up with a Plan

Travelling spontaneously is great, if you have time and money to spare. If you are travelling on a budget however, then you need to make sure that you come up with a plan. At the end of the day, you really don’t need to have an hour-by-hour plan, but you do need to have a good idea of how long you will want to spend in every city or even country. If you leave less to chance, then this will mean that you have less unexpected expenses and you won’t have to worry about your accommodation being as expensive either.

Travel out of Season

You should try and avoid going on vacation during the school holidays. This is when the travel industry tends to hike up the prices so that they can take advantage of those who can only go during these weeks. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to make sure that you travel during the offseason. If you do then you will soon find that the whole trip becomes way cheaper and that it is also quieter too. If you travel during the offseason, then you will soon find that hotels and even airlines will lower their prices to try and attract more customers, and you can take advantage of this. If you are struggling for money then it may be possible for you to look into guarantor loans if you can.

Be Savvy with your Accommodation

You won’t need an expensive suite; in fact, if you are on a budget then this can work against you. If you can, you need to try and share a room with someone else. One great alternative here would be for you to look into AirBNB or even Couchsurfing. When you do, you will be able to book a spare room, or a sofa at a person’s house. This will significantly lower the price of your stay and you may even find that you can make some friends along the way. When you book at someone’s house, you can count on them to advise you on the best places to eat in the area, and you can also count on them to help you to know some of the hotspots for tourists too.

Pack Properly

You have to make sure that you bring everything you could ever need so you don’t have to think about shopping while you are away. It doesn’t matter where you are going because you need to make sure that you have some jeans, a warm hoodie and even a waterproof jacket. You never know when there is going to be some unpredictable weather, and you also never know when you are going to need something to keep you dry.

Book your Flights in Advance

You really do need to make sure that you don’t run out of money while you are abroad. If you want to stop this from being an issue, then you need to make sure that you have a return ticket home. Prices tend to increase for flights, especially in the last month or so. For this reason, you have to make sure that you do everything you can to really capitalise on your money by booking as far in advance as you can.

Be Smart about How you Fly

If you want to save money then you need to try and travel on a Tuesday. At the end of the day, midweek travel prices tend to be much cheaper as you have a premium, which is added on to the weekend flights. Of course, you will also have much shorter queues and you also won’t have to worry about security as much. Fly economy as well. You will have no need to upgrade at all, regardless of how nice the premium class looks. The money that you save on your seats can be put towards giving yourself a way nicer holiday when you actually arrive at your destination, so you won’t have to worry about a thing there. Low-cost flights don’t pose any problems if you are only travelling a very short distance; so keep this in mind if you can.

Embrace Public Transport

Buses and trains tend to be way cheaper when compared to planes. It’s as simple as that. If you take a journey on an overnight train then this means that you won’t have to worry about paying for the hostel either, so that’s an important point to keep in mind.

Don’t Eat Away your Cash

Cheap lunches can be bought in a supermarket with ease. On top of this, you can even visit the local fresh food market if you want, as opposed to visiting a café or restaurant that is overpriced. You can also save money by avoiding beer. This may sound difficult when you are away and trying to have a good time, but if you make a bit of effort then you will soon find that you are able to reap the rewards.

Earn while you Travel

Believe it or not, working holidays are a fantastic way for you to spend several months of the year living the dream. You can teach skiing on a winter holiday or you can even take care of holiday goers in summer by providing catering services. Of course, if you don’t quite know how to provide the best service then most places will train you on the job and this is a fantastic way for you to learn on the go, as it means you can pick up new skills while being paid.

Now that you know that travelling the world on a budget isn’t impossible- here’s how you do it.
