This visual post touches on photos of one of a few abandoned underground stations in London.

The disused Strand underground station can be found in Aldwych Central London WC2. The abandoned Piccadilly line station is also known as Aldwych station

The disused side entrance of Strand underground station. This exit can be found along Surrey street in Aldwych Central London. The street runs from Strand in the north to Temple Place in the south
Not too far from the station is the river Thames.
Do you know of any disused underground station? Drop me a line as always.
Interesting post, Bola. I’d not previously thought of unused underground stations. But I certainly would love to be cruising along the River Thames right now!
Cruising along the Thames is great. The unused underground stations tell so much history and probably best to search for them in the autumn when it will be a lot cooler.
We were in London recently. What a shame we didn’t know about this – something to track down on our next visit.
That would be great. There are more unused underground stations I’m yet to discover. On your next visit look out for them.
I am curious about this. When did they close this station? I think I used it back in the 1970s. Was it closed because it’s so close to other stations?
I’m just as curious because I’m sure I used it in the 80s and 90s . It closed in 1994 because it never reached it’s full potential. It seems like it suddenly disappeared!
I’m wondering if there are any plans to re-purpose this unused station. I’m also curious why it was abandoned.
Re-purposing this station is much needed now. But it closed in the 90s as it didn’t reach its full potential.
