How Can Travel Enhance Your Life?
The world is waiting for you out there, and it is ready for you to explore it. You just need to work out where to go and how to go. You might also need to think about why to go travelling. There are many reasons why travelling is such a good idea, and it won’t matter if you’ve just left school and need a break before heading to university or starting work, if you’re retired and you’re looking for ways to make life more exciting, or anything in between. Travel is for everyone.
One of the most wonderful things about travelling is the many ways it can enhance your life. If you make the most of the opportunities presented to you, by the time you come back home again, you can be ready to take on anything. Here are some of the ways this can happen.
Gain Better Social Skills
One thing that might surprise people when it comes to discovering why travelling can enhance your life is that you will develop better social skills. You will have to unless you want to stay silent for your entire trip and not learn anything.
Whether you choose to travel up and down the length of the UK, or you want to go much farther afield, communication is going to be crucial if you’re going to make the most of your time away. By asking questions, you’ll gain information, and by making small talk with strangers, you could make lifelong friends. But these skills aren’t something you can use and then forget about when you come home; they will stand you in good stead in the future too. For example, if you have good social skills you will:
- Be more confident
- Do better in job interviews
- Be able to ask for what you want
- Have more successful dates
- Be able to argue your point more convincingly
- Plus much more
Reduce Stress
Stress is a huge issue these days. We work long hours and put untold pressure on ourselves to solve problems and challenges without asking for help. Stress can mount and mount, and eventually it will cause mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. It can also cause physical problems like heart disease, insomnia, ulcers, migraines, obesity, and muscle aches.
Reducing stress as much as we can as often as we can is important, and travelling is a great way to do it. You will be taking yourself away from whatever stressful situation you are in and whatever is causing you pain. The greater distance you can put between you and it, the easier it will be to deal with. More often than not, buy the time you come home, you will have stopped worrying quite so much and possibly come up with a solution, whether that’s to look into payday loans, get a new job, move house, or even how to respond to an email that has been bugging you.
Have More Creativity
Some people feel there is a big hole in their lives where creativity should lie. Their jobs aren’t creative, and they don’t get a chance to be creative at home either. Travelling can give you that chance. Not only are you more open to trying new experiences, many of which will be creative ones, but you will also be able to experience different cultures and see new things. These can all positively influence your creativity as well.
Being creative is something that enhances life dramatically. You don’t have to monetise your creativity; you can simply paint, sing, write, sew, sculpt, play an instrument, or anything else for your own pleasure, and that’s the best thing of all.
Be sure to be Covid safe and follow the guidelines in your home country and abroad but don’t let the pandemic dissuade you from travelling.
How has travel helped you in your life? Drop me a line or two as always.
I write this from Croatia, where we are savoring life for a few months – oh how I agree that travel enhances your life!
I hope all is well back in Croatia. Safe travels!
Travel has definitely enhanced my life ever since I was a young girl. It has opened my eyes to the diversity of cultures, traditions, and natural wonders this world has to offer. I can’t wait to get back into the more distant travel mode when it is safe and borders are open. In the meantime, it’s a good time to explore closer to home.
Travelling closer to home is just as good. Currently in the UK we are in the midst of a second lockdown where only essential travel is permitted. I am so much looking forward to going on an adventure when it’s safe to travel again.
I agree with all of these especially the creativity part since I love to do art projects and I am always inspired by my travels and seeing new things and creative ideas to take home with me.
Art is a lovely when it’s incorporated in to travel.
We look at travel as a way to continue our adult education of life. There have been so many new subjects we have learned about and heard the stories of some amazing people. Never stop traveling or learning.
I agree. Travelling to destinations is an education in itself and I can’t imagine life without travelling.
I agree with you such, Bola. Travel has truly enhanced my life and I can’t wait to get back to it!
l do look forward to getting back into it. It seems like a lifetime ago!
