Photos Of Life In King’s Cross In The 80’s And 90’s

Bloomsbury Festival

Strangely I wasn’t aware of the Bloomsbury festival in the King’s Cross area until I passed by and discovered an outdoor exhibition of photographs showcasing the life of resident in the 80’s and 90’s.

The pandemic

Due to the pandemic the festival was postponed to October with social distancing in place and to avoid mass gathering. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the event online but I was able to gather some knowledge about the upcoming festival by merely speaking to passers-by and reflecting on the exhibition of photos of previous residents. Had I not walked by I probably wouldn’t have known about the event.

Plenty of opportunities were available to watch the event online or even listen via radio Bloomsbury Radio.

The photos really speak for themselves but one thing I have learned is that there was vast poverty during those times. Old buildings have given way to regeneration and property development, which is common in London these days. A rather different place from the 80’s and 90’s
